Amy Ivan
In college I took a creative writing course and my professor asked me to submit material to a competition. Since the entry fee equated to my spare change for the month, I declined. Fast forward a decade to the small island of Okinawa, Japan. While I made the most of motherhood in a semi-jungle, after reading every morsel of fiction available on “the rock”, I started buying books through Amazon by the dozen. (The site sold only books back then.) Returning from living overseas with my pilot husband, I realized no matter how much I love the escape of a great read I wanted to create my own. So I bought more books—about writing fiction. Because I've had the privilege of traveling throughout Europe, Asia, and Australia, and much of the United States, I enjoy using unique settings in my books whenever possible. I hold a B.A. in Psychology (which proves handy when formulating antagonists), I’m a member of Mystery Writers of America, and a PRO member of Romance Writers of America. I write genre-blending fiction because a well-rounded plot shaped by believable people is how a story seems the most real to me. Using this multi-dimensional approach, I quickly convince the reader why this person's story matters and has to be told . . . involving a keep-you-guessing mystery, a love story to increase conflict and up the stakes, some drama if need be, and a dash of wit. To date my completed works include To Make You Mine, Hit or Miss, Trapped in Epitome, Inflatable Men, and Blind Conviction. Currently, I'm thrilled to be writing the second installment of the Kara Cinnamon mysteries: Search and Seize Her. I strive for a career in quality fiction and reside in the Midwest with my husband and two children.
